3 out of 5 stars Graphic SF Reader   September 3, 2007

This volume has more of a police story too it, and continues Sara's somewhat shabby treatment of her partner, Jake. A gang war between two different ethnic groups, and a dangerous assassin, and the not exactly a pussycat himself, Ian Nottingham. All these people running around the streets of New York, how is Sara going to stop it, and keep a handle on herself at the same time?

2 out of 5 stars The Return of Wohl - Tora No Shi vs. Ian   May 13, 2006

Big returns. That is the theme of the Witchblade Revelations TPB. The best part of this trade-paperback was the return of one of Witchblade's original creators, David Wohl. Witchblade Revelatoins takes Witchblade back to the street level and detective roots that the book originally started off with.

The main theme of the story is another Yakuza vs. Mafia war that spills out into the streets of New York City. Detecive Sara Pezzini and her partner Jacke McCarthy begin to investigate the occurances and discover that there is more to the game then just a gang war...

The writing is good - not great and is fun for those who already know a bit about the Witchblade comic and its past. Kenneth Irons makes an apperance as does Ian Notthingham. Wohl grabs your attention right off the bat by brining back the sadistic Asian assassin Tora No Shi. Over the course of this trade there are various fights between Tora No Shi and Ian Nottingham - that makes for some pretty decent action.

Storywise the plot starts off fast then slows down a bit. The buildup to the climax is not done well, but nonetheless a fun read. The art by Francis J Manapul is solid yet in my opinion does not fit the general mood of the book. The last issue is penciled by Brian Ching - who's dark and moody style depicts the Witchblade universe. Although Ching's overall art style is not as good as Manapul's - it makes for a better read because it does fit the writing of Wohl.

Revelations is a fun read for Witchblade fans, but will be difficult for those who are not familiar with the book.

4 out of 5 stars A all around good book.   December 6, 2003

I really enjoyed this book, I love the fact that Ian Nottingham(who is turning out to be my favorite character) returns in this chapter of the witchblade. And also whenever Sonatine is involved you can believe there is bound to be a good storyline. My only gripe is that Witchblade spends a lot of time developing storyline and not enough on action I would like to see a little more action in the next titles.
